Holistic Healing

I take a holistic view in assessing where your discomfort is coming from. The mind and body are not separate entities, and our emotional, physical, and spiritual health are all closely intertwined.

To promote mind-body-spirit connection, increased self-awareness and presence, felt sense of safety, increased emotional regulation, and overall wellness, I often incorporate elements of mindfulness, guided meditations, breathing techniques, and somatic (body) interventions into my practice such as the Safe & Sound Protocol (SSP) and Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) commonly known as Tapping. The SSP is rooted in Polyvagal Theory and seeks to re-tune the nervous system. EFT is a technique from the field of Energy Psychology and taps into energy meridians of the body while pairing a cognitive, trauma-informed approach. All of these mentioned techniques have potential to promote downregulation of intense energy, thoughts, beliefs, and emotions, and help us better achieve a “rest and digest” or “flow state.”

My clients are welcome to authentically explore and discuss ways they connect with themselves, their bodies, the earth, and the world/universe/life at large such as exploring nature, essential oils, healing crystals, singing bowls and sound therapies, chakra energy, yoga and mindful movement, spiritual practices, creative arts, and more. I use Existential Counseling as a basis to allow you to find meaning/purpose and identify what is important to you.

In addition to counseling, I often invite clients to consider additional modes of healing the mind, body, spirit, and nervous system through a whole-person approach. I firmly believe that incorporating a full mind-body-spirit approach simultaneously will yield the best results, and only focusing on one of those areas or approaches can often result in incomplete healing. There are many other healing modalities that compliment mental health counseling well such as massage, acupuncture, nervous system informed chiropractic work or physical therapy, yoga, hypnotherapy, nutrition, spiritual guidance/mediumship, Neurofeedback, and Reiki treatments. I will provide referrals for providers I trust if you are interested.

I am Reiki attuned. While I do not offer Reiki directly to my clients because it is different than counseling, my Reiki training aids me in being more attuned, sensitive, and intuitive about how energy affects health and wellness.
